少し時間が経ってしまいましたが、、
この春、武蔵野美術大学建築学科へ入学された新入生の皆さん、ご入学おめでとうございます。
みなさんと同様、この春から日月会の会長に就任しました小津です。
建築学科OB会である日月会では、OBだけでなく現役の皆さんにとっても有意義な活動を行っていきたいと考えていますので、改めて宜しくお願いします。
学科ごとに先生方が並ぶ壇上。
さて、日月会会長として最初の行事として、4月4日（火）に鷹の台キャンパスで行われた入学式に参加してきました。
体育館で開催された入学式では、会場の後方で新入生のご両親方に混ざって学長や理事長の祝辞、武蔵美らしいパフォーマンスなどを拝見しました。
一方、キャンパス内では在校生による各サークルや部活の勧誘活動が盛んに行われていました。新入生のご両親方がコスプレ姿の在校生の姿や趣向を凝らした勧誘活動にやや驚きながらも嬉しそうに眺めていた様子が印象的でした。

その後、8号館の建築学科フロアにて、建築学科の専任教授の祝辞が伝えられ、最後に日月会を代表して祝辞を述べさせて頂きました。

当日は、各先生方の祝辞と重なることも多かった為、急遽学生時代の思い出話などをしましたが、この場を借りてあらためて皆さんにお伝えしたかったことを綴りたいと思います。
日月会を代表して祝辞を述べさせて頂いた。
私ごとになりますが、約30年前、私も皆さんの側にいました。あの教室のどこかで皆さんと同じ様に、少し緊張して座っていました。そして、地方から上京してきた自分の能力の可能性や飛躍を信じて、少しばかり晴れやかな気持ちだったことを思い出しました。
在学中は、建築学科だけでなく武蔵美の自由な空気を思う存分に吸いこみながら、友人とかけがえの無い時間を過ごし、部活動やカリキュラム以外の創作活動を存分に楽しんだことは今の自分にとっても貴重な財産となっています。
それでも、いまも建築に携わる自分にとって最も大切な時間は、建築設計課題と格闘した時間だったと思います。決して優秀な学生ではなかったけれども、設計課題こそが自らの使命だと思っていました。
武蔵美の建築学科では、課題においても自由な発想を求められます。課題そのものに対して自ら問題を発見して、解答を導き出すトレーニングです。また、その問題と解答を先生や周りの同級生に認めてもらえるように説得する訓練でもあります。問題の発見、解決のプロセスとコミュニケーションが問われる課題でもあります。
近年、世の中の建築への眼差しも厳しい建築界ですが、未来は開かれていると信じています。しかし、その開かれた世界へと進むには、かたちや空間の美しさ以上に、コミュニケーション能力と問題解決能力が求められます。ここ武蔵美の建築学科では、その力を鍛える場といえます。まさに考える頭と、考える手という二重の武器を身につけることができる空間です。
4年後、それらの武器を身につけた皆さんが、多様な建築の社会へ飛び込んで来られることを期待して待っています。

これからの4年間が、みなさんの自己実現へ向けた第一歩へと繋がることを、心よりお祈りしています。
